The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) hosted the Investiture of Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, the 6th President of the University, at the USeP Gym on Dec 14, 2015.
The ceremony started with the Entrance of Colors, University Mace, Plaque of Installation, Academic Robe, Hood and Cap, guests, Members of the Board of Regents, the Platform Party, and the President’s Family.
Greetings and salutations were expressed on behalf of the Board of Regents, Hon. Maria Lourdes D. Lim, USeP BOR Member and NEDA XI Regional Director; on behalf of the State Universities, Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras, PASUC President, represented by Dr. Herbert Glenn Reyes, PASUC Executive Director; on behalf of the Science and Technology Community in Davao City, Hon. Anthony C. Sales, USeP BOR Member and DOST XI Regional Director, represented by Mr. Eduardo Tesorero; on behalf of the community, Hon. Rodrigo R. Duterte, Davao City Mayor, represented by Atty. Nathaniel Dalumpines, Chief of Staff; on behalf of the faculty, Prof. Ma. Fe B. Pepito, USePFFed President; on behalf of the staff, Ms. Marivic I. Dumaran, NTSA President; on behalf of the alumni, Hon. Rogelio G. Largo, USeP Alumnus and BOR Private Sector Representative; and on behalf of the students, Hon. Fernan Rhean A. Ramos, USeP BOR Member and SSG President.
After the salutations, the investiture rites followed. Hon. Patricia B. Licuanan, USeP BOR Chairperson and CHED Chairperson, represented by Dir. Napoleon B. Imperial, CHED Deputy Executive Director, proclaimed the 6th President of USeP, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao.
The newly proclaimed President then delivered her speech and put emphasis on the projects she believed, will help the University achieve its vision of becoming a Premier University in the ASEAN Region.
Dr. Generalao stressed on her speech, her desire for excellence, as she mentioned that “underneath all of her plans is one desire, and that is the pursuit of excellence — excellence in faculty and staff, excellence in fiscal management, excellence in information management, excellence in research, excellence in community service, excellence in resource management, excellence in partnership with the community, and more importantly, excellence in educational programming and learning environment to become excellent provider of quality education.”
Dr. Generalao also added that in order to successfully implement all of her plans, she will be needing the cooperation and help of every stakeholder in the University. She believes that together, the USeP community can make a difference.
The event concluded with the official opening of the week-long celebration of USeP 37th Foundation Day by the President, Dr. Generalao. With its new leadership, USeP will continue to reach greater heights and illustrate grander excellence in all of its services.
