Angelia is USeP OIC effective September 1

The Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), Dr. Marcelo M. Angelia, was designated by Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, Commission on Higher Education Chairperson, as Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Office of the University President effective September 1, 2015.

By virtue of CHED Special Order (CSO) No. 57 series of 2015, issued by the CHED Chair on August 27, Angelia started to discharge the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the University President on September 1. As OIC, Angelia shall render reports to the Board of Regents on actions taken in the performance of his duties.

The issuance of CSO is pursuant to the pertinent provision of Republic Act No. 8292, otherwise known as the “Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997”, Article VII, Section 30 of its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and in the exigency of the service since the USeP Board of Regents is yet to elect the next president of the University.

The USeP community, the Administrative Council in particular, supports the designation of Angelia, the most senior among the vice presidents and has been in the University for many years as a faculty with various designations – External Studies Program Director, Campus Dean and College Dean, among others. The University Administrative Council, per a resolution passed during its recent meeting, believes that Angelia, considering his years of academic and administrative experiences in USeP, can effectively lead the University until such time that a new University President shall have been elected by the Board.
