Who may use the Library?

The library may be used by:

  1. The members of the University of Southeastern Philippines constitutes the following:

    1. Members of the Administrative
    2. Members of the Academic Council
    3. Faculty
    4. Non-teaching staff
    5. Student
  2. Council Members of the Davao Colleges and Universities’ Network (DACUN) can access to print collections free of charge but should follow to library’s existing policy.
  3. Non-members of USEP community who may be allowed to use the library and who are expected to follow its rules and regulations and will pay necessary charges.

How to have a USEP E-Library Card?

New Students are required to pass the following to the University Library:

  • 2 pieces of 1x1 picture (identical with plain background)
  • Certificate of Registration (C.O.R)

If the E-Library Card is lost?

Students are asked to secure the following requirements in case of losing their E-Library Card:

  • Affidavit of Loss
  • 2 pieces of 1x1 picture (identical with plain background)
  • P30.00 replacement fee

What are the Rules in Borrowing Books from the Library?

Students are asked to observe and respect the following rules of borrowing books presented by the library:

  • Periodicals - Library use only and photocopy for 15 minutes.
  • Undergraduate Books - 2 books for 3 days only excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
  • Reserved Books - 1 book for library use and photocopy purposes for 15 minutes only
  • General Reference - 1 book for library use and photocopy purposes for 15 minutes only.
  • Filipiniana Books - 1 book for library use and photocopy purposes for 15 minutes.
  • Graduate Books - 2 books for three days excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.

Is there anything to remember when borrowing books?

Students are asked to be aware that upon borrowing the University Library books they are subject to the following fines and penalties if they fail to return the books on due dates:

  • Circulation Books (graduate and undergraduate) - P 1.00 per day (excluding holidays, Sundays, and Saturdays FOR UNDERGRADUATE ONLY)
  • Reserved Books / General References / Filipiniana -  P 1.50 after 15 mins and P 0.50 every hour (including holidays, Sundays, and Saturdays FOR UNDERGRADUATE ONLY)

What if a book I borrowed got lost? 

Students whose borrowed books got lost are asked to do the following:

  1. Report the incident immediately to the librarian.
  2. Replacement of the lost material:

    1. The same title or if not available in the market, replace with related title with a recommendation from the librarian.
    2. Latest edition/copyright date is better.

What is the University Library's policy concerning on the signing of clearance?

The University Librarian schedules the signing of library clearance before the final examination time every semester including summer classes. This is per scheduled by USEP-LRC and approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The signing of clearance is scheduled per college to orderly accommodate the student.   

The requirements are needed to complete the signing are the following: 

  • individual clearance form
  • Library card with 1 x 1 attached ID picture as required.

It should be known by the students that a sanction will be imposed for those students who late submit their clearance.  The kind of sanction is given upon the discretion of the University Librarian.

The schedule for the signing of clearance should be strictly followed since the library will conduct activities like the inventory of library books and other materials as well as the equipment, processing and cataloging of books, and distribution.  The Commission On Audit (COA) strictly requires the library to submit the said documents before summer will end. 

What is the Policy for Outside Researchers?

Researchers from the other schools can avail of the USEP library collections after paying an amount of twenty-five-pesos (P50.00) per day as per Board Resolution #2437 s. 1995.

The outside researchers are not allowed to borrow library materials and should only use these library materials within the library premises.
They should follow the control procedures by leaving their bag, attaché case, envelopes at the baggage counter. They should submit for inspection before leaving the library.

The member institutions of the Davao and Universities' Network (DACUN) are given privileges of free access to the library resources.

Lastly, outside researchers are allowed to photocopy the materials after seeking permission from the librarian.
