USeP Performs in Musikahan, International Rondalla Fests

USeP’s Harmonia Polifonica Chorale and Rondalla performed in the back-to-back hosting of the 10th Musikahan Festival and the Third International Rondalla Festival in Tagum City slated from February 12-19, 2011.

The University’s group of singers, with its conductor Mark Anthony Babalcon, consistently brings home the bacon as it recently copped the first runner up award in the Himig Handog National Choral Competition on February 19, 2011. Aside from the cash prize, they earned for themselves the pride of competing against twelve (12) other challengers from all over the country.

The chorale has been besting several occasions including Panayegon sa Binatan-on in Pasko Fiesta 2011, Marian Choral Competition in Harana Para Kay Birhen Maria 2010, and being a National Finalist for National Music Competitions for Young Artists 2009 held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Also giving the University opportunity to be internationally known in the field of music and arts is the performance of the USeP Rondalla in the 3rd International Rondalla Festival (Cuerdas sa Pagkakaysa) along with 24 of the best ensemble of musicians worldwide. USeP Rondalla had the chance to participate in the exchange of musical knowledge while discovering hidden treasures in the folk traditions of people from different parts of the world.

This euphonic festival in Tagum City, participated in by various musicians in the country and from the different corners of the globe, is a distinct cultural event that celebrates the Filipino excellence in Music composition, performance and production, which emphasizes celebration of talents and the richness of Filipino excellence in music and arts.  (USeP Public Info.
