Message of the Vice President for RDE

vprdeIn keeping with its core values (Unity, Stewardship, Excellence, and Professionalism) and mindful of its Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) has established itself as the lone regional state University in the Davao Region. Over the years, it has led in conducting research and extension activities in the area of agriculture, forestry, and natural resources (AFNR) with its strong linkage with DOST’s Philippine Council for Agriculture Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). As the base institution for the Southern Mindanao Agriculture Resources Research and Development (SMARRDEC), USeP is at the forefront of Agriculture and Allied Sciences research and development in Region XI. Equally important are the efforts of USeP in its R & D in other fields such as Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Education, Arts and Sciences, Economics, Governance and Business and Education.

This website aims to provide useful information for both USeP’s internal stakeholders (faculty, students, researchers, extensionists and support staff) as well as its external stakeholders (clients -- national, regional, local government units, and private/non-government organizations) who are its raison d’etre. The users of this portal will find information on USeP’s research development and extension (RDE) activities which are carried out by its component divisions/ center/office: (1) Research Division, (2) Extension Division, (3) Life-Long Study Center, and (4) Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO).

A useful link with SMARRDEC, PCAARRD, DOST, and other R & D / S & T institutions in the Philippines is provided in this website. In addition, links with international R & D organizations are also provided such as The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) which has continued to provide funding support to our horticultural projects in the area of integrated crop management for priority commodities such as mango, pomelo, durian, papaya and the like.

Providing oversight management function for all the divisions/ center/ office is the Office of the Vice President for Research Development and Extension (OVP-RDE). In this website, you will also get to know more of the faculty researchers and extensionists and staff who are behind RDE in USEP.

The RDE Manual (2006 Edition) is also uploaded in this website to provide ready reference for RDE’s staff and clientele. Updating of this Manual is in the pipeline to capture recent developments and policy guidelines concerning RDE. With the newly established ITSO, this website also provides a detailed Manual of Operations concerning patent search-related as well as intellectual property management services.

As part of the system of incentives, this portal also provides information on previous and current awardees as recognition of their exemplary performance in RDE activities. In addition, this website provides the opportunity for users to connect with us. Both internal and external stakeholders can touch-base with the Research and Extension Coordinators in the various colleges/ institutes/ schools in USeP.

It is my most sincere intention that through this portal, USeP can reach out to as many users as possible in order to contribute to the realization of inclusive growth and development as stipulated in our local, regional and national development plans.
