Concepts, principles and methods of economic analysis and their application to problems in public policy. Includes descriptive and prescriptive approaches, analysis and planning models, public sector analysis and other optimization techniques.

Politics and Policy in Asia-Pacific Region

Understanding contemporary politics and policy in Asia-Pacific region in a comparative perspective. It will focus on the question of political stability and various government policies which include national integration, promotion of national ideology and values, political development and economic equity.

Strategic Planning for Public Action

Processes and techniques in organizational planning; planning processes as it is utilized in contemporary urban planning and settings. Case studies and group workshops simulate actual planning scenarios.

Project Development, Administration and Evaluation

Project planning design and feasibility analysis, budgeting, implementation, resource mobilization and evaluation of service delivery. Includes policy analysis tools such as benefit-cost analysis and cost effectiveness analysis.

An integrative course which covers an analysis of local and national policies, governance problems and issues: their effects, impact and implications to organization and management, fiscal management and program administration, service delivery, socio-economic development and sustainability.
