Message of the Dean

The College of Governance and Business is a college consisting of three major departments, the Department of Development Studies, Department of Governance Studies, and the Department of Business Administration. It is the goal of the college to stand firm and competitive in delivering both higher and advanced education services. Knowledge production rather than consumption in the areas of governance and business is its underlying inspiration in undertaking research and extension to make itself relevant to society and communities it serves.

The challenges that the college face are the following: dwindling fiscal support from the national government, the rapidly changing external environment, the pull towards internationalization of the college as institution in line with the mandate of the university as a whole, and making itself competitive in the arena of higher education global competition. But given the competitive spirit of its

faculty, the support of the university, its alumni, and partners, these challenges are kept resolved.

The college has to go beyond its routine tasks; it needs to innovate along the areas of research, extension, instruction, and production. It must continue to be adaptive to new ideas, paradigms, and ways of thinking. Most importantly it has to ground its commitment on solid ethical foundations.
