USeP CED Graduate Students Present Papers in International Conferences

Four graduate students of the University of Southeastern Philippines’ College of Education recently presented papers in two (2) international forums in the areas of Special Education, Early Childhood Education and Guidance and Counseling.
Ms. Carloyn M. Caga and Ms. May Ann A. Olalo participated in the 2015 East Asia Regional Conference of International Council for Education of Persons with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) in Bali, Indonesia on September 28-October 1, 2015, where they presented papers entitled “Effect of Chunking Method on the Mathematics Performance of a Learner with Visual Impairment and Additional Disability” and “Effect of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) in Reducing Inappropriate Behavior of a Child” respectively.

Meanwhile, Ms. Estephanie M. Betinol and Ms. Wildie P. Manatad also shared their papers during the 1st International Convention on Children and Family in Legazpi City on October 15 – 17, 2015. The Research reported include “The Effect of Home Remediation Program in Improving Reading Skills in Sinugbuanong Binisaya” and Pagpangaway: Lived Experiences of the Bully, Bullied and Bystander in an Elementary School.

Generalao is the new USeP’s Prexy

The University of Southeastern Philippines’ Board of Regents (USeP-BOR) recently elected a new President in the person of Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao. The election was held on November 11, 2015 at the Commission of Higher Education Central Office, HEDC Building, U.P. Diliman, Quezon City.
Dr. Generalao took the Oath of Office on November 11, 2015 and the date of effectivity of her appointment is on November 12, 2015 until November 11, 2019.
Dr. Generalao is the Southern Mindanao Agriculture Resources Development and Environment Consortium (SMARRDEC) Director. From temporary Instructor in 1980, she became a University Professor in March 2015 – the first and only in the University.

Holcim Donates More Books to USeP

Holcim Philippines, Inc., the leading cement manufacturer in the Philippines, donated another set of books to the University of Southeastern Philippines on October 7, 2015, in support to the University’s mining engineering and geology programs.IMG 1889The said donation, amounting to PhP 300,000.00, is part of Holcim’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, headed by Holcim’s CSR and Administrative Services Manager, Ms. Basilia M. Devilleres.

Riyadh – IECEP-KSA-CRC ( Institute of EleCtronics Engineers of the Philippines - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Central Region Chapter), has been engaged in providing online graduate studies courses; from one of the top 20 schools in the Philippines as per CHED and PRC statistical study.
One of the programs is the:

Master in Business Administration (eMBA) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) Davao.

In the interest of Continuing Professional Development in terms of Education, IECEP-KSA-CRC started drafting abMemorandum of Understanding with USEP.

Totally, there have been 33 enrollees since February 2015 and to date there are currently 10 students enrolled in their 3rd term, and another 12 enrolled in the 2nd term. IECEP-KSA-CRC is continuously calling for interested professionals  to join in the eMBA program, open even to associate members of IECEP.

Angelia is USeP OIC effective September 1

The Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), Dr. Marcelo M. Angelia, was designated by Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, Commission on Higher Education Chairperson, as Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Office of the University President effective September 1, 2015.

By virtue of CHED Special Order (CSO) No. 57 series of 2015, issued by the CHED Chair on August 27, Angelia started to discharge the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the University President on September 1. As OIC, Angelia shall render reports to the Board of Regents on actions taken in the performance of his duties.
