USeP, SU and PCU host online poverty reduction course with World Bank KDCs

 
The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) partnered with the Silliman University and Central Philippine University in an online course on “Localizing Poverty Reduction Target” with the World Bank Group through the Knowledge for Development Centers (KDCs).
The said course is an initiative of KDC in which the three universities are all active members of, and done with the support of World Bank.The free online course runs from June 9 to July 1, 2015. Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion issued by the three universities at the end of the program. Participants came from the local government units (LGU), academe, and civil society (leaders and advocates).

Wi-Fi Hits Campus Airwaves

Students and employees of USeP can now have wireless internet access within the university premises as a campus-wide, Wi-Fi internet service has been officially launched. To access the network, the user is required to connect to the Wi-Fi Service Set Identifier  “USeP Wifi “ and enter his/her login credentials in the ensuing login page. For beginning users, the default username is their student or employee biometric ID number and the default password is their birthdate following the format: yyyymmdd (yyyy-year,mm-month,dd-date).

The Wi-Fi hotspots are accessible in the following areas in the university:
  • College of Education lobby.
  • Center stage and in-front of the College of Technology building
  • Gazeebo and open area field in-front of the College of Engineering
  • Registrar’s office and finance office lobby
  • Outside of social hall and open field
Students must be officially enrolled in the current semester to avail of the service. Currently, it is only available in the University’s main campus and is covered by the university policy on internet usage.

This project is spearheaded by the Institute of Computing (IC), in line with the University’s continuous pursuit of providing services to facilitate better student learning and improve employee performance.

Hytec Personnel trains Technology Instructors

In becoming globally competitive, universities, colleges, schools and institutes are aiming to meet international standards. New technologies have been upgraded - reason why Academe- Industry cooperation is necessary. It is important for the faculty to enhance their competencies in order to achieve the goals of the College and University, particularly, in producing technology graduates with marketable skills potentials for growth to address the manpower needs of business and industries.

In making these things possible, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) - College of Technology (CT) collaborates with the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities of Industrial Technology (PACUIT) Inc. and the Hytec Power Inc. in conducting the three-day National Skills Training.

One of the trainings conducted is the Application of Ladder Programming and Human Machine Interface to Modular Production training facilitated by Engr. Armando B. Tomas (Technical Training and Specialist Manager of Hytec Power Inc.) and Mr. Ross Mel Lingon (Specialist of Hytec Power Inc.), the training focused on the disciplines that covered in Mechatronics such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) Modeling, Pneumatics, Sensor Technology, Electro-pneumatics Technology, Programmable logic control and Power Electronics. The participants performed Pneumatic Circuitry, Sensors, PLC Programming, System Integration, Modular Production System and Sensor application. These topics are useful in developing, servicing and maintaining Automated Systems.

USeP-CT Spearheads National Skills Training

Stepping up to a wider world of technology, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – College of Technology (CT) in collaboration with the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities of Industrial Technology (PACUIT) Inc. and the Hytec Power Inc. conducts a 3-day National Skills Training in Application of Ladder Programming and Human Machine Interface to Modular Production, Automation Studio, Robotics and Electrical, Electronics & Digital Logic on July 1-3, 2015 at the USeP Social Hall.

The opening program was attended by the respected trainers and speakers namely: Engr. Dino Ramacho (Manager, Mindanao Hytec Power Inc.), Engr. Ross Mel B. Lingon, Engr. Armando B. Tomas (Technical Training and Specialist Manager of Hytec Power Inc., Engr. Leandro A. Castillo (Product Specialist –ECE and CpE of Hytec Power Inc.), Engr. Juvencio A. Villanueva, Jr. and Mr. Sherwin National Skills Training The USeP National Skills Training participants during the Opening Ceremony at the USeP Social Hall. By: Dyna Aireen G. Arcena P. USeP Prexy Receives UP and PASUC Awards

Dr. Perfecto A. Alibin, President of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), was hailed by the University of the Philippines – Diliman, College of Education (UP-CED) as an Outstanding Alumnus in 2014 under the Professional Leadership Award category. Alibin received the recognition during the UP-CED homecoming and reunion held at the Benitez Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City, on June 21, 2015.
