USeP Alumnus, Youngest Judge, Shares Wisdom with Univ Grads

Attorney Jimmy Bustillo Boco, the youngest judge ever appointed at the age of 34, shared his wisdom and experiences with the graduates as the commencement speaker of the University of Southeastern Philippines, Tagum–Mabini Campus, on April 13.

Through the appointment of His Excellency Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, Judge Boco was appointed to be the Judge of the Municipal Trial Court of Maco, Compostella Valley Province on February 24 this year. He was previously promoted as Deputy Provincial Prosecutor by the President of the Republic of the Philippines last December 4, 2014, allowing him to serve as a Prosecutor for only two months, right before he was appointed as Judge.

Hailed as the man of many gifts, Atty. Boco is a part-time law professor for both undergraduate and post-graduate studies. He also contributes columns to local newspapers such as Sidlak Dabaw and Periodico Norte. He even renders free legal services through his own radio program entitled “Sayri ang Balaod” aired every Saturdays and Sundays via 107.1 FM Hope Radio Tagum.

Boco is an alumnus of USeP. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education major in Animal Science. Being the commencement speaker of the Tagum-Mabini campus allowed him to inspire young graduates who will be the future professionals and leaders of our country.


USeP Hosts National OAS-SPED Summer Training 2015

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), through its College of Education, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Resources for the Blind Inc. (RBI) hosted the National Training Course in Organization, Administration and Supervision in Special Education (OAS-SPED) for 2015, along with the Capability Building for SPED Teachers Handling Children with Special Needs and the Summer Training Program for Multigrade Teachers in the Early Years.

The training participants consist of 45 administrators, principals who enrolled in OAS-SPED; 30 multiple disability with visual impairment (MDVI) participants; 36 learning disability (LD) participants; 40 visual impairment (VI) participants; and 72 multigrade participants.

The enrollment, orientation, and opening program were held on May 4 at the College of Education Building. Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Dean, CED, gave the welcome address and introduced the faculty to the students. It was followed by testimonies from the representatives of SPED teachers and Multigrade teachers.

Dr. Perfecto A. Alibin, President, USeP, in his message, stressed out the essence of training towards creativity and effectiveness where teachers can gain more knowledge, skills, and competencies that they can apply in teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Not less than thirty-five (35) years old and not more than sixty-one (61) years old at the time of application. Sixty-one (61) years old shall mean from actual date of birth and not a day older beyond 61 years old.

  2. A natural-born Filipino citizen

  3. Holder of an earned doctorate degree from a reputable higher education institution

  4. Proven track record as an administrator (President, Vice-president, Dean, Campus Administrator, Director), preferably in the academe, whether in public or private, for at least five (5) years

  5. Must not have been convicted of any administrative offense or of any crime involving moral turpitude

An applicant who does not meet any one of the abovementioned minimum qualifications and cannot submit pertinent supporting documentary evidences for these minimum qualifications on the set deadline shall be disqualified from the Search Process.

SAEc Training-Workshop on Basic Quantitative Techniques for Research

The School of Applied Economics (SAEc) is tasked with teaching, conducting research and providing advisory and extension services to government and private institutions. SAEc has designed, for its extension, the Research Assistance and Training in Economics and Econometrics (RATEE) Program for researchers, planners and policy makers. These programs are designed in response to the growing need to enhance and/or upgrade the quantitative skills of researchers and planners involved in agriculture, economics, and other related disciplines where decision-making requires quantitative analyses.

SAEc, in partnership with the Mindanao Economics and Econometrics Association, Inc. (MEEA), will conduct the training on Basic Quantitative Techniques for Research, this June 4 - 6, 2015 (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) at the SAEc AVR, USeP, Obrero, Davao City. The training is designed for academicians and researchers in the private and public sector. Participants will be able to gain knowledge in identifying appropriate methods for undertaking statistical analyses of various data types using software applications. One of the main purposes of the training is to introduce the research process, sampling methods, exploratory data analysis, and descriptive and inferential statistics.


USeP Hosts Job Fair 2015 for Graduates and Alumni

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) hosts Pre-employment Seminars on April 6 and 7, and Job Fair on April 8, at the USeP Cultural and Sports Center (USeP Gym).

The aim of the said event assists graduating students and alumni find gainful occupations. The said fair is conducted in partnership with the University Guidance and Testing Office (UGTO), USeP – Public Employment Service Office (USeP-PESO), and Office of Alumni and Development.

In addition, the pre-employment seminar and job fair opt to prepare the students in interviews and job applications as well as to assist them in finding jobs suited for their skills and preference. Aside from establishing linkages with business establishments, the event also hopes to establish partnerships with agencies for future career enhancement programs.

The pre-employment seminar for Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), College of Governance and Business (CGB), and School of Applied Economics (SAEc) started in the morning of April 6, 2015, while the College of Engineering and Institute of Computing started on the afternoon of the same day. On April 7, the College of Technology also had the same pre-employment seminar. The Job Fair will be on April 8 from 8am until 5pm.
